The Hartford School District is seeking a special education teacher to join our dedicated and passionate special education team at the Hartford Memorial Middle School. Candidates should have a strong background in providing high quality intervention services, healing-centered care, and supporting and collaborating with general education teachers on inclusive practices. It is important to have a solid understanding of how to partner with teachers in building and implementing instructional strategies at the universal level.
The ideal candidate will have experience implementing research-based structured math and reading interventions, such as Orton Gillingham, collecting and interpreting data, and using diagnostic tools to inform instruction. Special educators provide individualized and small group instruction, and support student needs in an inclusive school environment. Experience with co‑teaching is preferred, but not required; however the ideal candidate would be willing to be trained in this model.
This teacher will work in collaboration with the school's general education teachers, special educators, parents, related service providers, and oversee paraprofessional staff. At the Hartford School District we believe that all students can learn and our special educators are essential partners in this work. We are looking for strong communication skills, problem‑solving oriented staff, and educators who believe that relationships come first.
Job Requirements- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
