OverviewThe Department of Buildings & General Services (BGS) is seeking a Custodian III to serve as a team lead for daily cleaning duties at Windsor Superior Court. The incumbent will plan, organize, and direct work for a crew of building custodians, participate in hiring and evaluating custodial employees, and train staff on new work methods and procedures. In addition, the role may oversee or assist with snow removal, groundskeeping, and recycling.
A successful background check and a valid driver’s license are required. The position requires a fingerprint‑supported background check and involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 lb. Overtime and evening work may be required.
Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm.

Environmental FactorsDuties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state‑owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather and maintain good physical condition, including the ability to climb ladders and lift weights up to 50 lb. The position may require overtime and evening work.
Minimum Qualifications- Two (2) years or more of building custodial work that included floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction.
- OR Two (2) years as a BGS Custodian II.
- Some positions in this class require a valid driver’s license and own transportation for travel between work locations.
- Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
