Signicast is seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Manufacturing Technicians. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining production equipment, ensuring quality standards are met, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process.

Shifts:

Day shift 6:00 am – 6:00 pm on a 12-hour 2-2-3 rotating schedule;
Night shift 6:00 pm – 6:00 am on a 12-hour 2-2-3 rotating schedule. The starting wage depends on experience plus applicable shift premiums. Dependable and reliable attendance is required for all positions.

Roles and Responsibilities

Wax Technician: Responsible for assembling the wax molds to prepare them for the next step in the manufacturing process.

Dip/Dewax Technician: Responsible for coordinating the dipping of wax patterns into the ceramic slurry to develop the shell coat and then evaluating the wax from the mold.

Finishing Technician: Responsible for ensuring the parts are defect-free, meet customer specifications, and are shipped to the customer.

Melt/Rough Clean Technician: Responsible for converting parts into metal by transferring liquid metals into molds and then removing the ceramic mold from the parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Wax Technician
  • Reading wax cell standard practices and procedures in the Signicast Access system
  • Inserting dies and setting up presses
  • Coordinating the injection of wax into dies and assembly of patterns to sprues at multiple presses
  • Performing visual inspection of sprues, patterns, and molds against pictures in Access and 1st quality part
  • Monitoring control panel settings and making adjustments to ensure quality patterns
  • Storing and retrieving dies, sprues, and clusters in the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS)
  • Performing preventative maintenance on the daily checklists, such as greasing presses, filling sprayers, checking lights, and taking presses apart and changing filters
  • Hang clusters so they will not crash in the dip process, make sure no wax is stuck in the die which would cause defective parts
  • Back up for other areas if the continuous flow manufacturing process is interrupted to remove any backlogs, including working in the Dip/De-Wax Cell, Melt Cell, or Finishing Cell
Dip/Dewax Technician
  • Conduct and continually improve on Signicast’s processes within the Dip/De-Wax cell
  • Adding sand and cleaning sand beds
  • Measurement of the slurry mixture to ensure the right consistency
  • Unscrewing the mold from the mold hanger to put a cup on the mold for the next step
  • Lift the mold from the cup machine and load it onto the mold cart to load into the autoclave
  • Loading and unloading of the autoclave
  • Loading all sprues from the de-waxing process (autoclave) and load into the sprue-cleaning machine
  • Patch molds so there are no leaks
  • Lift molds onto the conveyor system that enters into the burn-out furnace
  • Back up for other areas if the continuous flow manufacturing process is interrupted to remove any backlogs, including working in the Wax Cell, Melt Cell, or Finishing Cell
Finishing Technician
  • Reading Finishing cell standard practices and procedures in the Signicast Switchboard system
  • Visually checking the quality of parts and fixing/welding to customer specifications
  • Tapping holes in parts to customer specifications
  • Detecting cracks in parts (mag particles), if applicable
  • Heat treating parts to customer specifications and measuring the hardness of parts
  • Sending parts to outside subcontractors and receiving and inspecting parts upon return
