Binding Machine Operator

TSG - The Sheridan Group seeks a Binding Machine Operator to support high-quality production for strategic communications and public affairs materials. In this on-site role, you'll set up, operate, and maintain binding equipment to produce books, reports, and advocacy collateral with precision and consistency. You will read work orders, prepare materials, monitor runs, and perform quality checks to ensure accurate finishes and specifications.

Working in a small, hands-on team, you'll help troubleshoot minor mechanical issues, uphold strict safety standards, and meet tight deadlines for policy- and issue-driven campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor binding machines to meet job specifications and quality standards.
• Review work orders and samples to confirm correct materials, dimensions, and finishes.
• Perform basic equipment adjustments, changeovers, and preventive maintenance.
• Inspect finished pieces for accuracy, alignment, and overall quality, correcting issues promptly.
• Handle paper stock and materials, including loading, trimming, and stacking finished products.
• Follow all safety, housekeeping, and equipment lockout/tagout procedures.
• Accurately record production counts, downtime, and material usage.
• Collaborate with supervisors and teammates to prioritize jobs and meet deadlines.
• Report mechanical issues and assist in minor troubleshooting as needed.
• Support continuous improvement efforts in efficiency, quality, and safety.
