Position Overview:
Assists with the management and coverage of the Front End Department, responsible for assisting with training and oversight of daily operations of the Front End to maintain structure and consistency to contribute to the overall customer experience and the financial success of the Co-op.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
Holds effective meetings as requested or needed to enhance communication amongst the supervisor team and department staff
Educates staff on membership information to enhance the growth of membership when necessary
Organizes regular monthly meetings with developmental staff for consistent meetings in regards to overall performance of these assigned staff members
Supports Front End Supervisors in preparing and implementing a schedule to provide excellent customer service and sets guidelines for high productivity
Supports and sets guidelines for Front End Supervisory positions when interviewing applicants and checking references
Assists in developing a plan for staff to meet their individual goals
Supports checkout Shift Supervisors/Supervisors by reviewing and/or assisting in completing disciplinary warnings for staff as requested or needed
Assists in developing standards for the checkout departments
Ensures front end is clean and register areas are uncluttered and supplied
Provides cashiers to do shopping and packing of senior orders and other special orders as needed or requested
Attends Department Manager meetings as requested
Is familiar with the Co-op alarm system and closing procedures
Follows appropriate steps when handling
Communicates daily with Department Managers and Store Manager.
Meets regularly with Front End Manager Performs Manager on Duty responsibilities efficiently
Demonstrates and enforces safe and secure money handling procedures with department, according to store policies
Enforce proper procedure in handling paperwork
Complete all required department and Co-op training
Has knowledge and training of phone system- knows how to answer, page, and transfer properly
Serves as a mentor to new staff in the department (for those with more years of experience)
Re-trains staff as needed or requested, following set training program
Checks Co-op email at least once per week
Sets standard for expected behavior in adhering to all food safety procedures
Adheres to all Co-op policies, procedures and employee code of conduct
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Experience and Attributes:
High School Diploma or equivalent3 to 4 years cashier experience3 years in retail business with experience
Excellent communications and organizational skills required
Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. comfortably on a regular basis
Set an excellent example for new employees
Proficiency in use of computer software, Office 365, Excel and Word Successful completion of Co-op customer service training
Serve Safe certification acquired as needed
Excellent follow through
Equipment Used:
Computer register, scanner, adding machines, computer, knives, box cutters, U-boats, carts, and phone system.
Attendance Requirements:
Flexible hours, including weekend and evening shifts. Availability to be scheduled to work any day of the week, according to department needs.
The salary range for this position is $20.85 to $31.27. This range represents the full earning potential for the role as skills and tenure grow. The expected hiring range is $22.00 to $25.00, which supports internal equity and aligns with current budget parameters, while preserving opportunity for future increases.
