Position: MATERIAL HANDLER

TSG - The Sheridan Group, a DC-based strategic communications and public affairs firm, seeks a Material Handler for our Manufacturing Warehouse department. This role is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials, staging and organizing inventory, and supporting production workflows. You will load/unload shipments, update inventory records, and maintain a safe, orderly warehouse environment. Ideal candidates bring attention to detail, reliability, and comfort with physical work in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and accurately verify incoming printed materials, paper stock, and production supplies against purchase orders and packing lists
  • Stage, move, and supply raw materials and finished products to and from presses, bindery, and packaging areas to support production schedules
  • Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other warehouse material handling equipment safely and efficiently
  • Organize, label, and maintain warehouse inventory locations to ensure accurate stock rotation and easy retrieval
  • Perform regular cycle counts and assist with full physical inventories, documenting discrepancies and partnering with supervisors to resolve issues
  • Prepare outgoing shipments, including packing, palletizing, stretch-wrapping, weighing, and labeling orders for carrier pickup
  • Use basic warehouse or ERP systems to record material movements, update inventory quantities, and track work orders
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment when working around machinery, forklifts, and loading docks
  • Maintain a clean, orderly warehouse and production support area by sweeping, removing debris, and properly disposing of waste materials
  • Communicate effectively with press operators, production leads, and supervisors to prioritize material needs and address any shortages or delays
