American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of ED nursing experience and BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.
Details- Level 4 Trauma Center and Acute Stroke Ready Center with Magnet Designation
- Emergency Department with 10 beds and approximately 700 visits per month
- Patient population spans pediatrics to geriatrics with general ED presentations
- Patients under age 16 requiring admission are transferred out
- No Cath Lab onsite; acute STEMI, acute CVA admissions, and cardiac arrest cases typically transferred out
- No ambulance diversion
- Patient ratio of 1:2-6
- 12-hour evening shifts, combination of 11:00-23:30 and 19:00-07:30
- Weekend rotation of every fourth Saturday and Sunday, 11:00-23:30
- 48 standard hours per week
- No floating required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Uses Epic EMR, Pyxis, Alaris, and GE monitors
- Telemetry monitoring available at the nurses station with no dedicated tele tech
- Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse (takes patient assignment), 24/7 phlebotomy, RT, hospitalist, and ED physician coverage, plus PA/NP coverage 12 hours per day
- House supervisor available to assist in the ED during night shift based on census
- Active RN license (WI state license or compact)
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required prior to starting
- Minimum 2 years of RN Emergency Department experience required
- Completion of an accredited nursing program
- Epic EMR experience
- Skills in triage, trauma, stroke, cardiac, and pediatric care
- IV insertion, NGT, EKG, and assisting with intubations
- Experience with chest tube management and assistance with placement
- Experience with splinting recommended but not required
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills
- Deliver comprehensive, patient-centered emergency care using the nursing process and evidence-based practice
- Anticipate and respond to changes in patient condition, coordinating care with the interdisciplinary team
- Participate in discharge planning and collaborate with clinic and specialty services for follow-up care
- Promote a culture of safety by identifying and addressing potential risks
- Take on a leadership role within the care team, delegating appropriately to unlicensed personnel
- Orientation includes NEO modules and onsite Epic training during the first week, followed by one shift to learn unit flow
- At least one holiday coverage required during the contract, specifically Labor Day
- Up to 7 days of time off may be approved during the assignment
- Scrubs may be any professional color without patterns
- Free onsite parking available in an open lot with security
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
