Special Education And Gifted Teacher

Job Goal:
To work with general education teachers, parents, and administrators; to provide appropriate educational programs for special education and gifted students.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Serves as a team member to develop an Individual Education Program (IEP) for each special education student or a Gifted Education Plan for each gifted student
• Cooperates and communicates with other teachers and parents in providing educational opportunities
• Serves as a team member in making referral eligibility and re-evaluation decisions
• Creates an environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the needs of the student
• Participates with the director and other teachers in a structured continuous staff development program
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by higher authority

Terms of Employment:
Terms of employment shall be consistent with the law relating to employment by a school system in the State of Alabama. Nine-month year, with a salary scale established by the Board for this position.

Evaluation:
The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
