Controls Engineer; On Site

Overview

Cerro Wire LLC, part of Marmon Holdings backed by Berkshire Hathaway, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and implement industrial control systems.

• BS in Engineering
• 2–5+ years of engineering experience in building controls, machine tools, and troubleshooting control systems
• Experience with PLC protocols:
  Allen Bradley RSLogix, Siemens Step 5 & 7, GE Machine Edition, Mitsubishi
• Experience setting up and utilizing networks:
  Device Net, Profibus, Profi Net, Ethernet, Ethernet/IP
• Experience configuring Allen Bradley, Siemens and Automation Direct HMI screens/panels
• Experience with VFD drives and programming of ABB, Parker, AB, Yaskawa, Siemens
• Robot programming with Fanuc;
  Vision programming with Cognex and Fanuc IRVision preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels
• Ability to lead projects and serve as primary customer interface
• Understanding of RIA robot safety standards, OSHA safety standards, NFPA 79 and 70E standards

• Electrical design of complete automation systems using AutoCAD Electrical, including power distribution, I/O controls, communications, panel layout, PLC and robot programming
• Calculate panel SCCR, power rating and FLA for panel rating
• Direct electrical assembly during equipment build and installation
• Configure, debug, and test equipment on the shop floor
• Lead start‑up projects from initiation to completion with internal and external stakeholders
• Manage time and costs within budget and schedule
• Implement and maintain plant effectiveness
• Respond to unplanned downtime or breakdowns on machines and plan maintenance activities for non‑routine problems
• Troubleshoot equipment and system problems using root‑cause analysis
• Design, fabricate, and install mechanical and electronic equipment and perform program changes
• Assist in planning, coordination, and performance of shutdown and major maintenance activities
• Provide training and on‑the‑job training to other employees as required
• Wire and repair electric motors and basic wiring according to NEC
• Maintain and troubleshoot AC drive systems and PLCs, accessing and interpreting PLC logic via laptop or other devices

Additional duties as assigned, not determined at the time of hire.

• Full‑time on‑site work (non‑remote)
• Willing to work any shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays
• Stand for long periods of time; work at heights on occasion
• Work in cold, heat, noise, dust, fumes, paint, chemicals, oils, etc.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
