Manager, Surveying

The Construction Surveyor will report to the Director of Construction and will measure, inspect, update, and document property boundaries using specialized surveying instruments.

• Use surveying technology for topographic, boundary, and construction layout land surveying.
• Record, and preserve accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed.
• Perform field calculations.
• Read and interpret existing Alta surveys and other third‑party survey documents.
• Perform survey grid layout for post pinning.
• Validate per–plan installation of BMPs and erosion & sediment features.
• Problem‑solve in the field to adjust grades to achieve positive drainage.
• Conduct as‑built surveying post‑construction for final engineering drawings.
• Coordinate construction strategies and locations of important project features (wetlands, historical preservation sites, and other sensitive areas preconstruction).
• Use AutoCAD and/or Trimble (a plus).
• Act as QA/QC of all project surveys.
• Work with Engineering and Procurement on site layouts.
• Support the development of Self‑Perform Civil Division.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies throughout construction to ensure compliance with permits.
• Verify calculations for gathering physical survey data, document technical design details, analyze physical, survey, or geographic data, survey land to determine features, and calculate geographic positions from survey data.
• Have knowledge of SWPPP, SPCC, and environmental best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Construction and VP of Construction.

The Surveyor will supervise a survey crew.

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• Survey License (required).
• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of experience in Construction Survey, Dimensional Control, Industrial Measurement, or a related field (required).
• Understanding of current civil engineering standards and practices.
• Knowledge of SWPP, SPCC, and BMPs.
• Proficient preparing and reviewing bid packages.
• Comfortable presenting to and interacting with consultants, AHJs, and subcontractors.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

The majority of this work is performed in a field environment and requires travel/overnight stays. Will be required to perform physical labor. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift to 30 pounds.
