Starting Salary: $60,000 – $75,000 per year (based on experience). Environment:
Alternative Education Program, Grades 6‑12.

Chance Light Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education is seeking a Teacher to join our award‑winning Alternative Education team for the 2026‑2027 School Year. The role focuses on increasing student achievement in grades 6‑12 by implementing instructional practices and strategies aligned with Chance Light’s mission and school standards.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑impact, engaging instruction with diverse curriculum materials and cutting‑edge educational technology tailored to individual student profiles.
  • Develop structured daily lesson plans and classroom schedules that meet state standards and promote academic focus.
  • Collaborate with special education staff and support personnel to differentiate instruction and ensure equitable access to learning for all students.
  • Implement consistent behavior expectations and proactive classroom management strategies fostering a safe, supportive learning environment.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to share progress updates, celebrate successes, address challenges, and align on strategies that influence student achievement.
  • Participate in team meetings to strategize around student support, troubleshoot concerns, and reinforce collaboration.
  • Assess student growth through continuous data collection and analysis to inform instruction, drive interventions, and personalize learning outcomes.
  • Stay informed about evidence‑based educational practices, innovations, and trends in the subject area.
  • Respond proactively to formal evaluations and informal feedback as opportunities for reflection and growth.
  • Contribute positively to the school community by embracing additional responsibilities as assigned, supporting the broader Chance Light mission, and championing student success.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or a closely related field.
  • Licensed or in the process of obtaining a valid IL state professional educator (PEL) credential.
  • Certification in company‑approved crisis management training.
  • Experience with curriculum development, differentiation, and instruction in an educational setting.
  • Teaching experience in relevant grade level and/or subject matter, preferably in an alternative, special education, or behavioral health program.
  • Skill in working with children with learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and related disabilities.
  • Experience with students’ individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective education plans for diverse learners.
  • Proficiency in motivating and having critical conversations with students toward realistic goals.
  • Strong oral and written communication, curriculum design, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to think and act quickly in emergencies and make independent decisions.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology, including instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
