ESY Registered Nurse - School Bus Aide
The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing healthcare services and ensuring the safety and well‑being of students during their transportation to and from school. This includes monitoring students with medical needs, administering medication if required, and responding to any health‑related emergencies that may arise while on the school bus.
Qualifications- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification; additional pediatric or emergency nursing certification is preferred.
- Schedule: This position requires working during the school year, with hours aligned to school bus schedules, including mornings and afternoons.
- Environment: Work primarily on a school bus, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and potential health hazards.
- Student Health Monitoring: Supervise and monitor the health of students with medical needs while they are being transported to and from school.
- Emergency Response: Provide immediate care and intervention in case of medical emergencies, including administering first aid, CPR, or other emergency care as necessary.
- Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications to students as required during the bus ride, ensuring proper dosage and timing.
- Health Documentation: Maintain accurate records of any health‑related incidents, medication administration, and any care provided during transportation.
- Communication: Communicate any health concerns or incidents with school administration, parents, and healthcare providers as needed.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all health and safety protocols are followed on the bus, including proper seating arrangements and use of safety equipment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with bus drivers, school staff, and parents to ensure a coordinated approach to student health and safety during transportation.
