OVERVIEW
Supports nursing leadership in overseeing daily operations, staff development, patient satisfaction, and quality improvement initiatives as Assistant Director of Nursing within the skilled nursing facility. This role partners with clinical leaders to ensure excellent patient care, strong team performance, regulatory compliance, and achievement of operational and service excellence goals.
Schedule: 40-hours per week- salaried
Shift: Variable
Location: Mercy Manor, Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center, Harvard, IL
Pay Range: $77,582.
- Provides hands‑on clinical support and leadership for skilled nursing operations, reinforcing professional nursing practice standards.
- Assists the Director of Nursing in implementing nursing goals, initiatives, and operational plans aligned with system and departmental priorities.
- Supports daily nursing operations, including staffing coordination, scheduling support, and resource utilization, to meet resident care needs.
- Assists with recruitment, onboarding, orientation, competency validation, and ongoing education of nursing staff.
- Monitors staffing patterns and works collaboratively with nursing leadership to address coverage needs based on census, acuity, and regulatory requirements.
- Serves as an accessible clinical resource for nursing staff, physicians, interdisciplinary team members, residents, and families.
- Supports collaboration with physicians and providers to promote effective communication and resident-centered care.
- Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) activities, including audits, chart reviews, and follow‑up on identified opportunities.
- Assists in monitoring resident experience and satisfaction data and supports action plans to improve outcomes.
- Supports regulatory compliance and survey readiness activities, including policy adherence, documentation review, education, and plan‑of‑correction implementation.
- Applies quality improvement principles and utilizes data to support improvements in nursing practice and resident outcomes.
- Communicates clearly and professionally with staff and stakeholders through verbal and written communication.
- Participates in hospital, system, and departmental committees as assigned.
- Provides coaching, guidance, and informal mentoring to nursing staff to support professional development and performance improvement.
- Models professionalism, ethical nursing practice, accountability, and service excellence.
- Exercises sound clinical judgment and problem‑solving skills in addressing day‑to‑day operational and resident care issues.
- Supports service excellence and service recovery efforts to promote a positive resident and family experience.
- Performs other duties as assigned based on department needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned under the direction of the Director of Nursing, or Department Leadership.
Minimum
Required:
Associate Degree in Nursing required.
Minimum of 1-2 years of skilled nursing or long‑term care nursing experience.
Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred
CERTIFICATION/LICENSUREMinimum
Required:
Current, active RN license in Illinois or Wisconsin required.
BLS/CPR within 3 months of hire date
OTHERSKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to follow both written and oral instructions accurately and consistently.
Technical Skills- Working knowledge of skilled nursing operations, clinical workflows, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to review and interpret clinical, quality, and staffing data to support compliance and care delivery.
- Strong clinical problem‑solving skills with the ability to assist in resolving operational or regulatory concerns.
- Basic to intermediate understanding of budgeting, labor management, and census‑based staffing.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply federal and state regulations, policies, and clinical guidelines.
- Proficiency in preparing accurate documentation, reports, and professional correspondence related to quality and compliance efforts.
