LPN Role
SCHEDULE:
32 hours per week; SHIFT:
Days; PAY RANGE: $23.18 - $37.10/hr
- Provides quality patient care by performing treatments and procedures according to established protocols.
- Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment.
- Administers specified medications as allowed by policy and procedure, licensure, and State Practice Act.
- Responds in a safe and timely manner to patient requests and reports significant observations to the RN promptly.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the patient's plan of care and delivers care safely and within established standards and guidelines.
- Participates in planning for patient’s care by providing input to the RN and, under the direction of the RN, assists in implementing the patient care plan.
- Demonstrates knowledge of established hospital and nursing policies.
- Identifies emergency situations, initiates nursing measures as appropriate within scope of practice in emergency situations, and seeks assistance and direction as necessary.
- Instructs patients in self‑care according to the teaching plan and the directions of the RN.
- Documents this aspect of the patient’s care.
- Participates in QA & I.
Graduate of an accredited LPN Program OR Illinois:
Completed the designated curriculum of a Ladder Option Approved Designated RN Program. Experience in a clinical/hospital setting preferred.
- Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in IL.
- Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
SCHEDULE:

Days; PAY RANGE: $34.45 - $51.68/hr
- Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws practice act.
- Documents according to standards of care.
- Performs assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care.
- Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.
- Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
- Utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units’ departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.
- Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.
- Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program. ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred. May require specific years of applicable experience to qualify (per department guidelines).
Certification/Licensure- Licensed as an RN in state of practice.
- Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.
- Other certification(s) per unit requirements. For example: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRP.
Skills and Abilities
