Job Description & How to Apply Below

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Environmental & Respiratory Epidemiology

Researchers in the Department of Environmental Health at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, in collaboration with the Channing Division of Network Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, are looking for an exceptional postdoctoral fellow to join the Spatial and Contextual Exposomics and Epidemiology Lab (spaceelab.org).

Research Focus

The fellow will work under the guidance of Dr. Jaime Hart on a study of the impacts of multiple environmental exposures (e.g., air pollution, temperature, UV, greenness) on asthma incidence. Opportunities also exist to lead analyses using advanced mixture methods and to investigate how other spatial and contextual measures affect health behaviors and chronic disease risk in large prospective cohort studies.

Training

Opportunities

Training will include epidemiologic methods, exposure assessment, geographic information systems, data analysis, manuscript and grant writing, and will be supported by a dedicated mentor and a broader mentoring team.

Qualifications
  • PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in epidemiology, environmental health, or a related field.
  • Programming proficiency in SAS or R.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Experience with environmental exposures, mixture methods, or asthma epidemiology preferred.
  • Creativity, accuracy, and the ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
Application Instructions

Start date is flexible, beginning in the Fall of 2026. Please send a cover letter, curriculum vitae (CV), a writing sample, and the names of three professional references to Dr. Jaime Hart (jhartvard.edu) with the subject line “Environmental Epidemiology Postdoctoral Position.” This is a grant‑funded position with up to two years of guaranteed funding; additional years may be possible based on progress and funding availability.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, or pregnancy‑related condition. Applications are particularly encouraged from members of historically underrepresented groups.
