Lead Safety and Secuirty Specialist
Job Title: Lead Safety and Security Specialist
Job Summary: The Lead Safety and Security Specialist is responsible for the daily coordination, assignments, and supervision of security personnel and operations at their assigned campus. This leadership role ensures that all safety protocols are consistently applied, and it serves as the primary liaison between the security team, school administration, district administration, and the School Resource Officer.
Qualifications and Skills- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Valid driver’s license
Minimum of 5 years of experience in law enforcement, security, emergency management, or a related field required. Experience in a supervisory role or OIC program. Experience in a school setting or with school safety programs is highly desirable. Being multilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable.
Reports to: Director of Safety & Security
Terms of Employment: This is a 9-month IMRF hourly non-union position with a starting range of $37.50 - $39.00, established by the Board of Education.

Duties and Responsibilities 1. Professional Standards and Expectations- Focuses on customer service, creating a positive climate of respect and trust.

- Works well within a learning environment, including students, parents, staff, administrators, and the community.
- Demonstrates ethical behavior, integrity, and confidentiality of information about students and staff in the school environment and community.
- Participates successfully in professional learning opportunities available to increase skill and proficiency related to the assignment.
- Personnel Management: oversee the daily assignments and deployment of Safety and Security Specialists to ensure maximum coverage of facilities, parking lots, and extracurricular activities or community events.
- Performance Evaluation:
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing training for the specialist team, ensuring all staff maintain professional conduct and high visibility. - Operational Oversight: review and provide line-level supervisory direction to ensure compliance with district policies and procedures.
- Strategic Planning: collaborate with school leadership to develop and update site-specific safety plans, traffic management protocols, and emergency response procedures.
- Emergency Action Plans: work in collaboration with the Director of Safety & Security in the establishment, training, and implementation of Event Emergency Action Plans.
- Monitor controlled entrances and greet visitors to help direct them to their destination.
- Monitor interior and exterior spaces, including athletic facilities, for suspicious or unauthorized persons or activities.
- Monitor and guide students to ensure they remain in authorized areas.
- Monitor student arrival and dismissal, including student-approved exit via high school-approved flexible scheduling.
- Check parking lots daily for parking tags.
- Ensure that students who are walking the halls have passes.
