Accounts Payable Clerk

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join a manufacturing organization in Harvey, Illinois on a Contract basis. This position supports day-to-day payables operations by handling invoice activity, maintaining accurate records, and working closely with vendors to resolve account questions. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, sound accounting judgment, and the ability to manage high-volume transactional work with accuracy and professionalism.

Responsibilities:

- Process incoming invoices by entering transaction details into the company's accounting system with a high degree of accuracy.

- Match invoices to purchase orders, confirm pricing and item details, and address any inconsistencies before payment is released.

- Organize and maintain digital invoice documentation by scanning, indexing, and attaching supporting records within a paperless workflow.

- Review payment requests for proper approvals and complete backup documentation to ensure compliance with internal controls.

- Coordinate payment timing based on agreed vendor terms and available discount opportunities.

- Communicate with suppliers to answer account questions, investigate open items, and resolve billing discrepancies in a timely manner.

- Reconcile vendor statements each month, research variances, and make corrections as needed to keep accounts current.

- Support tax-related vendor file maintenance, including documentation associated with W-9 records and 1099 reporting.

- Maintain orderly records, follow company accounting procedures, and assist with cross-functional support or additional assignments as business needs require.

The salary range for this position is $22/hr to $24/hr benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance. Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent required.

- 2-5 years of recent accounts payable experience in a fast-paced environment.

- Hands-on experience with invoice coding, invoice processing, and check run activities.

- Working knowledge of accounting software, including experience with Navision or a comparable ERP platform.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with careful attention to detail.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal teams.

- Familiarity with W-9 administration, 1099 processes, and Concur is preferred.
