Director, Nursing Programs at Ingalls Memorial Hospital
Join a world‑class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as the Director, Nursing Programs at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois. We are seeking a transformational leader to lead and foster strategic nursing‑related programs and ensure nursing quality across Ingalls. Reporting to the Executive Director & Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, you will be a strategic partner in setting goals and objectives for the program.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and execute all aspects of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet program process and ensure readiness for Magnet application and re‑designation.
- Serve as the consultative Subject Matter Expert on Magnet for all clinical and support departments, nursing, physicians and administration.
- Measure quality management dimensions of nursing services and drive continued improvement in nursing practice model adherence and nurse employee satisfaction across all nursing functional areas.
- Drive engagement of nurses through compelling messages, programs and development opportunities to achieve a top‑of‑license nursing practice and mission‑driven nursing culture at Ingalls.
- Collect and compile all supporting documentation, apply in‑depth assessment and analysis to determine organizational readiness for Magnet application process.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership to close gaps in readiness and improve systems and processes to assure compliance with Magnet designation criteria.
- Utilize outside resources, best practices and current evidence to develop integrated organizational interventions to aid in Magnet designation/re‑designation.
- Coordinate with senior management and supervisors to ensure operational problems are resolved, creating deployment and consistent adoption of enterprise‑level programs to support nursing engagement, professional practice, and culture.
- Identify gaps between current state nursing culture and practice and desired future state to develop strategic plans and tactical actions that engage and strengthen the nursing workforce.
- Lead Ingalls Nursing Quality/NDNQI to maintain Magnet designation and direct all phases of comprehensive nursing services policies and practices with appropriate quality metrics.
- Provide leadership in developing objectives, standards of care, policies, procedures and quality improvement initiatives.
- BSN and MSN required.
- Current RN licensure in the State of Illinois.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience, including operational and budget responsibility in an acute care hospital environment.
- Experience in a Magnet designated organization is strongly preferred.
- Credible expert about nursing professional practice with demonstrated experience guiding organizational change toward consistently following nursing professional practice model.
- Hands‑on experience with program management and deployment.
- Knowledge of continuous process improvement methodology, including Six Sigma or Lean.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative staff.
- Able to navigate effectively with high‑level internal and external contacts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership qualities, and a notable record of accomplishments.
Base pay range
: $/yr – $/yr
