American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring Level I Trauma experience and multiple advanced certifications.

• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Uses Epic charting system, experience preferred
• Combined adult/pediatric emergency department in a Level I Trauma Center
• Cares for trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Manages cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmias, and performs 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Handles psychiatric emergencies including suicidal patients and acute psychosis
• Performs IV therapy, phlebotomy, and manages arterial and central lines
• Provides respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator care, and intubation
• Administers emergency medications including IV vasopressors and procedural sedation
• Manages neurological trauma including CVA, TBI, and spinal cord injury
• Applies splints and manages orthopedic trauma cases
• Performs triage and isolation precautions/PPE protocols

• Active IL RN license required in hand
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Preferred certifications: TNCC, CPI
• Minimum 1 year of ER experience required
• Prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma ED required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Nursys report required within the last 2 weeks of submission

• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Maximum RTO of 7 days, with no RTO during the first or last week of the contract
• Block scheduling is not accommodated
• Former UCM, PRN, or Ingalls permanent staff must have a 7-month gap before returning as a traveler
• Non-billable orientation modules (2-3 hours) completed during orientation
