School Overview
Jefferson RISE Charter School, founded by seven community members in 2014, will serve just under 800 students in grades 6-12 for the school year. Located in Harvey, Louisiana, the school caters to a diverse student body from the Westbank of Jefferson Parish, consisting of 59% Black/African American, 24% White, 15% Hispanic, and 2% Asian students, with 87% qualifying as economically disadvantaged.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver clear, engaging instruction aligned to lesson plans and school expectations
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom using strong management strategies (e.g., circulation, active monitoring, positive narration)
- Build quick, positive rapport with students across grade levels and subject areas
- Provide real-time feedback to support academic growth and on-task behavior
- Adapt daily to new classrooms, content areas, and routines with professionalism and flexibility
- Approach unexpected situations with a solutions-oriented mindset to ensure continuity of learning
- Reflect on performance and actively seek feedback to grow in instructional practice
- Take accurate attendance and ensure student work is collected and submitted properly
Education and Certification:
- High School Diploma required
- Classroom Management:
Effectively maintains a positive, structured classroom environment by setting clear expectations, calmly addressing disruptions, and implementing the regular teacher's behavior systems focused on safety, respect, and responsibility. - Adaptability and Flexibility:
Confidently navigates different classrooms, subjects, and grade levels with limited prep time by quickly interpreting lesson plans, adjusting instruction in real time, and solving challenges creatively. - Strong Communication
Skills:
Communicates directions clearly, engages students through active listening, and collaborates professionally with staff to support smooth transitions and consistent expectations. - Instructional Skills and Subject Knowledge:
Brings a foundational understanding of academic content and is comfortable interpreting teacher plans to deliver instruction effectively, answer student questions, and keep learning on track. - Professionalism and Reliability:

RISE employees are paid twice a month on the 15th and last day of each month.
Jefferson RISE pays the following employee-only benefit costs for all full-time employees: coverage 85% of medical premiums and 100% of dental, vision, short and long term disability premiums. The Employee covers the remaining costs, including 15% employee medical and all spouse/dependent costs. RISE provides a 401(k) retirement plan to all W-2 employees, including a match of up to 100% of contributions on the first 3% deferred, then 50% of contributions from 3% to 5%.
