Academic & Behavioral Intervention Specialist
Jefferson RISE Charter School is seeking a highly motivated Academic & Behavioral Intervention Specialist (ABIS) to provide intensive academic and behavioral support to students requiring Tier II and Tier III interventions.
The ABIS serves as the primary case manager for an assigned caseload of students and is responsible for coordinating academic, behavioral, attendance, and social-emotional supports designed to improve student outcomes. Through intervention planning, progress monitoring, mentoring, coaching, family engagement, and direct student support, the ABIS helps students overcome barriers to success and develop the skills necessary for long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary case manager for an assigned caseload of students receiving Tier II or Tier III supports
- Develop and maintain individualized intervention plans
- Coordinate academic, behavioral, attendance, and social-emotional supports
- Monitor student progress toward identified goals
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of interventions and student progress
- Facilitate intervention review meetings and adjust supports based on student data
Academic Intervention
- Provide direct academic support and coaching to assigned students
- Assist students with organization, planning, study skills, goal setting, and academic engagement
- Monitor academic performance and identify barriers to success
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement classroom supports
- Support students in developing self-management and academic success skills
Behavioral Intervention
- Implement individualized behavior interventions aligned to student needs
- Provide direct instruction in behavioral, social, and self-regulation skills
- Conduct regular student check-ins and coaching sessions
- Support implementation of behavior contracts, mentoring programs, and Check-In/Check-Out systems
- Conduct student observations and collect behavioral data
- Collaborate with staff to ensure intervention consistency across settings
Family Engagement
- Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress
- Develop collaborative partnerships with parents and guardians
- Facilitate conferences and meetings related to intervention plans
- Connect families with available resources and support services when appropriate
Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of two years of experience working with adolescents in education, youth development, mentoring, behavior support, social services, counseling, coaching, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and families
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience with MTSS, PBIS, RTI, behavior intervention, case management, or mentoring programs
- Experience providing academic intervention or instructional support
- Experience working with at-risk youth

Compensation
Jefferson RISE offers competitive compensation tied to performance and qualifications. We do not follow a traditional salary schedule - annual salaries reflect the outcomes teachers drive and the value they bring to students and the school.
- Annual Salary Ranges: $40,000 - $50,000 starting salary depending on degree level, certification, content, previous student outcomes, and experience
- Additional Stipends Available:
Employees may be eligible for stipends or supplemental compensation for approved responsibilities that extend beyond the regular duties of their position. Examples may include athletic coaching, club sponsorship, leadership, special projects, additional workdays, extended hours, or other assigned duties. Eligibility and amounts are determined by the school and may vary from year to year. - Raises and Bonuses:
We believe exceptional performance should be recognized. Employees may be eligible for performance-based raises and bonuses. Eligibility and award amounts are determined based on demonstrated results, contributions to the organization, available funding, and other relevant factors. - Paid twice monthly on the 15th and last day of each month
