Job Overview

This 8‑week assignment is a leader in the provision of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. The RN effectively delegates, directs and assists licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes; exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity in all interactions;

maintains involvement in activities aimed toward the achievement of unit and the department’s strategic goals and objectives; and demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability for his/her own practice and supports the company’s philosophy of nursing.

Responsibilities
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Effectively use the Nursing Process in the delivery of patient care.
  • Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family and other groups or disciplines.
  • Communicate, delegate and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serve as a leader and partner on the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Utilize data, information and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the profession of nursing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
Qualifications
  • Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Work Experience

    Required:

    1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Certifications

    Required:

    Current RN License in the state of practice, Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification.
  • Preferred Certification: Certification in clinical specialty area.
  • Knowledge,

    Skills and Abilities

    (KSAs):
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
    • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
    • Demonstrated good judgement.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
Physical and Environmental Demands

Heavy Work – Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. The incumbent works in a patient care area; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases.

The incumbent has an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.

Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
