Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Asset & Tool Coordinator is responsible for the procurement, maintenance, tracking, and overall lifecycle management of A-1 Electrical Contractors’ tools, equipment, and vehicle fleet. Reporting to the Warehouse & Logistics Manager, this role ensures that field crews have reliable, well‑maintained tools and vehicles available when and where they are needed, that all company assets are accurately tracked and accounted for, and that the fleet remains compliant with applicable registration, titling, and DOT requirements.

The position is central to controlling asset costs, minimizing equipment and vehicle downtime, and protecting the company’s investment in its tools and rolling stock.

Tool & Equipment Management
  • Purchase tools, power equipment, and consumables to support field operations, sourcing competitive pricing and maintaining preferred‑vendor relationships.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all company tools and equipment, including check‑in/check‑out, assignment to crews and job sites, and periodic physical counts.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance, calibration, repair, and warranty claims; remove unsafe or unserviceable items from service.
  • Track tool condition and usage, make repair‑versus‑replace recommendations, and forecast upcoming replacement needs.
  • Manage tool storage, organization, and issuance within the warehouse and yard.
Fleet Management
  • Purchase and coordinate the acquisition of fleet vehicles and related equipment in line with operational needs and approved budgets.
  • Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs across the fleet to minimize downtime and extend vehicle life.
  • Monitor GPS/telematics systems to track vehicle location, utilization, mileage, and maintenance or driver‑related alerts; report trends and exceptions to management.
  • Coordinate repair vendors and warranty work, and verify quality and cost of completed service.
Fleet Compliance & Records
  • Maintain vehicle registrations, titles, and license plates, ensuring timely renewals through the Louisiana OMV.
  • Ensure fleet compliance with applicable DOT regulations, including required documentation, inspections, and recordkeeping.
  • Maintain organized records of maintenance history, warranties, registrations, insurance documentation, and asset assignments.
Purchasing & Administration
  • Obtain quotes, process purchase orders, and reconcile invoices for tools, equipment, parts, and fleet expenses.
  • Track asset and maintenance spending against budget and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Evaluate suppliers and service providers for price, quality, reliability, and service, and maintain strong vendor relationships.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or relevant technical certification preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in tool/equipment management, fleet coordination, purchasing, or warehouse operations — preferably in construction, electrical, or the trades.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices and DOT, registration, and titling requirements.
  • Familiarity with GPS/telematics platforms and inventory or asset‑tracking systems.
  • Valid Louisiana driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications, including email, spreadsheets, and asset/inventory software.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Sound judgment in purchasing and repair‑versus‑replace decisions.
  • Effective communication and coordination with field crews, management, and vendors.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and follow through.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to lift and move tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Work is performed in warehouse, yard, and occasional job‑site settings, with exposure to weather and shop conditions.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and operation of vehicles and equipment for extended periods.
Compensation

The target pay range for this position is $48,000 – $65,000 per year ($23.00 – $31.00 per hour), depending on experience, qualifications, and relevant construction and fleet background. This is a non‑exempt, overtime‑eligible position; actual earnings may be higher with overtime. Final placement within the range is determined at the company’s discretion.
