Overview:Hasbrouck Heights School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to support a student with special needs as part of our district's commitment to inclusive education. This position requires an individual who can work collaboratively with teachers, specialists, and families to provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support tailored to the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Job Responsibilities:- Provide individualized instructional, behavioral, and personal care support to an assigned student throughout the school day.
- Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in the student's IEP under the supervision of a certified special education teacher.
- Support the student in both general education and special education settings, including transitions between activities or locations.
- Monitor and collect data on student performance and behavior as required.
- Assist with personal care needs, mobility, and/or medical protocols if necessary (training provided).
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
- Collaborate regularly with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment.
- Passed Praxis
- Associate's degree, 60 college credits, or a passing score on the Para Pro Assessment (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
- Experience working with children with disabilities is strongly preferred.
- Ability to remain patient, calm, and positive in a fast-paced school environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow teacher directions and district protocols.
- Ability to lift, move or support student physical needs as required.
28.75 hours per week
Salary:$29,254.00 (Prorated based on start date.)
