Hasbrouck Heights School District is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered professional to serve as a Student Assistance Coordinator.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field
- Valid New Jersey Student Assistance Coordinator Certification or eligibility required
- Relevant experience in school counseling, mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and/or substance abuse services preferred
Compensation: Competitive salary in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement's salary guide range $59,980 to $109,725. (Pending contract negotiations.)
Job Goal: To provide comprehensive mental health, crisis intervention, prevention, and student assistance services that support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of students. The Student Assistance Coordinator will provide intervention, counseling, referral, prevention, and case management services related to substance abuse, mental health concerns, crises, and student wellness.
Essential Functions:
- Provide individual and short-term mental health counseling services to students
- Conduct crisis assessments and intervention services
- Coordinate substance abuse prevention and wellness programming for students
- Coordinate drug and alcohol testing procedures and random screening protocols
- Support re-entry meetings and transition planning for students returning from hospitalization or treatment
- Provide substance abuse prevention, intervention, assessment, referral, and follow-up services for students and families
- Serve as district liaison to DCPP and Handle with Care initiatives
- Serve as liaison to the County Interagency Coordinating Council (CIACC), juvenile justice officials, and community-based agencies when appropriate
- Support students and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability
- Serve as HIB Specialist for assigned schools
- Participate on the School Safety Team
- Collaborate with community agencies, including the Prosecutor's Office, DEA, and mental health organizations, to provide educational programming
