PayBeginning hourly rate: $22+ depending on experience
Pay schedule: Bi-weekly
Work EnvironmentIn office
This is a year-round permanent position with responsibilities that vary by season:
February 1 – April 15: Primary focus is tax preparation (40+ hours per week)
April 16 – January 31: Primary focus is bookkeeping and payroll (20-32 hours per week, Monday through Thursday) in Hastings, MN
Position OverviewWe are looking for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, and growing
environment. This person should also be able to stay productive during slower periods by taking
initiative and pursuing self-directed growth opportunities. This role requires flexibility, accuracy,
professionalism, and the ability to manage changing priorities throughout the year.
Primary Responsibilities Tax Preparation- Prepare and e-file accurate individual income tax returns
- Review, analyze, and enter client document information accurately
- Assemble client folders and file copies of completed returns
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information
- Stay current on tax law and relevant updates
- Communicate professionally with clients and coworkers to gather or provide required information
- Escalate complex or unusual situations appropriately
- Assist with preparation of client payrolls by verifying and updating employee and pay period data, including payroll and payroll tax obligations
- Assist with reconciling bank and credit card accounts for bookkeeping clients
- Prepare and e-file quarterly payroll returns, annual payroll returns, W-2s, 1099s, and CRPs
- Assist with onboarding new payroll and bookkeeping clients as needed
- Respond to and resolve payroll and bookkeeping client requests or concerns
- Provide CSR and facility coverage when needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- 1–2 years of professional tax preparation experience
- Knowledge of small business returns is a plus
- Education or background in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance
- Prior experience with Pro Series, Quick Books, Accountants World, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to identify opportunities to improve processes and service delivery
- Must obtain and maintain a valid PTIN prior to preparing returns
- Must be able to pass criminal background check
- Desire to grow and develop within the company
