Overview
Custodian I (Project Management) – YMCA of the North seeks custodial support staff to uphold standards in cleaning, janitorial services, and general building maintenance. Hours may vary based on operational needs. Team members enjoy a free YMCA membership and discounts on YMCA programs. The salary range for this position is $16.00 per hour. Base pay may vary depending on individual background and experience.
Full‑time compensation includes medical, dental, life, disability, and more, plus generous paid time off and free membership. Part‑time benefits will vary.
The Custodian I is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the assigned areas. The incumbent completes assigned duties with moderate supervision. Duties include mopping, dusting, trash removal, window washing, assisting with meeting set up, and other general cleaning responsibilities. The incumbent interacts positively with members and staff, responding to requests personally or informing the appropriate maintenance staff member. Member service is the incumbent’s main objective while demonstrating the YMCA core values: honesty, responsibility, caring, equity, and respect at all times.
EssentialFunctions
- Complete all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintain daily upkeep of the assigned area and equipment.
- Perform custodial duties including wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, assisting with meeting set up, vacuuming, and general cleaning as requested or needed.
This position reports to the Custodial Supervisor who reports to the Executive Director. Work closely with staff to ensure that association standards of cleanliness are met and attend all relevant training programs available.
Qualifications- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing if needed.
- Move up to 50 pounds of project materials and/or tools to remote building locations up to 200 feet away.
- Ability to clean equipment as needed.
- Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
- Perform essential custodial duties in a facility that may involve, but is not limited to, the following activities: semi‑reaching to full‑reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on the stomach and/or back.
