Overview
Position Summary... What you'll do... Leans and develops teams effectively by teaching training and actively listening to associates touring stores and providing feedback. Tour to Teach: communicating and collaborating with all levels of associates regarding store operations utilizing technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction; introducing and leading company change efforts; providing clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions and communicating business objectives to teams effectively.
Models and demonstrates exceptional customer service standards to store associates by following and demonstrating the One Best Way (OBW) service model; managing and supporting customer service initiatives (for example store of the community and community outreach programs); ensuring customer needs, complaints, and issues are resolved by developing and implementing action plans to correct deficiencies and providing process improvement leadership to ensure a high quality customer experience.
Drives the financial performance and sales of the designated store area by reviewing and evaluating P&L statements; managing and assisting in budgeting, forecasting, and controlling expenses; ensuring indexed to sales; monitoring effective merchandise presentation, seasonal transitions, inventory flow and operational processes; and developing and implementing action plans to mitigate shrink and achieve sales and profit goals. Provides supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training and mentoring, assigning duties, setting clear expectations, providing associate recognition, and communicating expectations consistently and effectively;
promoting a belonging mindset; recruiting and developing qualified associates to meet staffing needs and growth potential. Coordinates and oversees job-related activities by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; building accountability and measuring progress; identifying improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring and training, mentoring, assigning duties, providing recognition and promoting a belonging mindset.
Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans and supporting the Open Door Policy. Adopts a culture of respect for the individual, collaboration, integrity, and customer focus; promotes belonging, ethical behavior, and accountability; and acts with integrity and in the spirit of Walmart values to support a regenerative impact for associates, customers, members and the world around us.
- Lead and develop teams by training, listening to associates, touring stores, providing feedback and communicating business objectives to teams.
- Model and sustain OBW service standards and manage customer service initiatives, addressing needs and resolving issues with action plans for continuous improvement.
- Drive store area financial performance by reviewing P&L, budgeting, forecasting, controlling expenses, managing merchandise presentation, inventory flow, and shrink mitigation.
- Provide supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates; recruit, hire, train, mentor, set expectations, recognize performance, and foster a culture of belonging.
- Coordinate activities with stakeholders; support plans to meet customer and business needs; monitor progress and adapt as required.
- Ensure compliance with policies, ethics, and Open Door Policy; promote integrity and a high standard of ethics.
- Minimum Qualifications
: 2 years of college; OR 1 year retail experience and 1 year supervisory experience; OR 2 years general work experience and 1 year supervisory experience. - For facilities selling firearms: successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training.
- For facilities that sell only ammunition and have state-specific requirements: may require a current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility.
- Associates must attend and complete all job-required trainings and assessments (e.g., Academy trainings, Open Door trainings).
- Preferred Qualifications
:
Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership via Live Better U and Bellevue University;
Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership via Live Better U and Bellevue University; experience supervising 5+ direct reports with performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.
