Job Overview
Lathe Machinist
Pay Rate Range: $72,000.00 - $93,000.00 per year
Location:
Hastings, MN
Schedule:
Shift work, 2nd or 3rd Shift (part-time or full-time options), Monday to Sunday 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
Position Type:
Direct Hire
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications, and technical drawings
- Strong knowledge of cutting tools, materials, and tooling geometry
- Expertise in using precision measurement tools
- Familiarity with various CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Haas)
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Preferred:
Experience with G‑Code and M‑Code programming or Computer‑Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software - Preferred:
Experience with multi‑axis or live‑tooling lathe machines
- Set up and operate CNC lathes, including loading programs, tooling selection, offset adjustments, and fixture setup
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining operations, sequences, and dimensional specifications
- Perform machine start-up and shut-down procedures
- Machine parts to required specifications and within tight tolerances
- Monitor the machine during operation, adjusting feed rates, cutting speeds, and depth of cut as needed
- Perform in‑process inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure parts meet quality standards
- Identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions or quality issues that arise during machining
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on CNC lathes to ensure optimal performance and longevity
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety regulations
- Replace worn tools and inserts as necessary
- Adjust existing CNC programs (offsets, minor edits) at the machine control
- Accurately complete production documentation, logs, and reports
