OverviewThis role involves intense physical demands, including performing cleaning, decontamination, and emergency spill response tasks in confined spaces. The technician will operate diverse equipment, tools, and machinery in hazardous environments, requiring comprehensive Haz Mat personal protective equipment (PPE).
Responsibilities- Report to our Hastings location each morning before being dispatched to client sites across the Twin Cities Metro area.
- Carry out site remediation, equipment decontamination, and hazardous material handling.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of heavy and light-duty trucks/equipment at client locations, including vacuum trucks, transports, rolloffs, etc.
- Use and maintain diverse personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and protective gear for skin, face, hands, and feet.
- Work in varying indoor and outdoor temperatures and all weather conditions.
- Function in environments with potential exposure to chemical and physical agents, some hazardous, toxic, or corrosive.
- Ensure safe loading and unloading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal compliance regulations.
- Operate vehicles safely, following U.S. DOT, local, state, and federal requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and health card, or willingness to obtain one.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces in full Haz Mat PPE.
- Standard shift time is 7 a.m.; flexibility required for occasional start times before or after 7 a.m. and for overtime or project needs.
- This is a full‑time position; weeks may vary between full‑time, overtime, and slightly less than 40 hours depending on job needs and priorities.
- Some overnight travel is expected; travel is usually scheduled, but emergency spill response may require unscheduled travel. Flexibility and willingness to mobilize when an emergency arises is required.
- Expected to adhere to the On‑Call Rotation Schedule, committing to at least one on‑call week per month (Thursday to Thursday). Some flexibility may be required during busy seasons and emergencies.
