SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Production Engineer, performs a variety of work associated with all aspects of design, construction, operation, and maintenance of utility installations for electric power plants, various buildings, and structures. Collaborates with Maintenance, Electric Instruments & Controls, and Operations departments in ensuring efficient production by designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical equipment, monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with other engineering teams to maintain safety and quality standards throughout the production process.
Qualifications- A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college.
- A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience preferred.
- Licensed Professional Engineer with the State of Nebraska preferred.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Provides engineering assistance to power plant departments in analyzing operational problems and providing recommendations for improved reliability, performance, fuel efficiency, improved plant load range, reduced emissions, load reductions and forced outages.
- Estimates project costs and reviews and prepares specifications and bid documents.
- Provides interface with equipment OEMs. Provides engineering support for plant modifications.
- Assist Production Coordinator and staff to prepare one- and six-year capital improvement plans and capital budgets for Hastings Utilities and Public Power Generation Agency.
- Project manager as needed for O&M and major capital construction projects including but not limited to power plant construction. Reviews and approves design construction drawings and project work orders.
- Prepares specifications and bidding documents. Evaluates bids, reviews, and negotiates technical and commercial exceptions, determines lowest evaluated cost, and prepares recommendations to management and engineering department.
- Prepares and updates site maps, drawings, diagrams, and site P&’s.
