Juvenile Justice Resource Supervisor (Open)

Under general supervision of district Chief Probation Officer, this position's responsibilities include matching juvenile service needs and funding options relative to out-of-home care/placement and behavior health services in conjunction with the referring probation officer, analysis of provided services, and research to identify and develop interventions, best practices, and services at the district level.

In-Office only. 300 N St. Joseph Ave Suite 210, Hastings, NE 68901

Travel Requirements:
Occasional regional travel is required to support district needs, attend training, and conduct community supervision field visits.

Work Schedule:

Core hours are Monday–Friday daytime. As part of our 24/7 commitment to community safety, responsive on-call, evening, night, weekend, and holiday availability is required.

Salary and Compensation:

  • Starting Salary: $66,495.93 annually (Hiring Rate).
  • Immediate Growth*:
    Earn a 2.5% pay increase after successfully completing your probation period (if starting at Hiring Rate).
  • Starting Rate Flexibility:
    Higher starting pay may be considered based on education and experience, subject to final management approval.
    • * Please Note:

      Candidates approved to start above the Hiring Rate (at or above the Minimum Permanent rate) are not eligible for the 2.5% post-probation increase.
  • Future Increases:
    Annual cost-of-living adjustments (applied on July
    1) are subject to State Legislature approval.

Job Duties:

  • Utilizes assessment instruments completed by probation officers and case staffing to identify funding streams for out-of-home care/placement and/or wrap around services based on needs and behaviors.
  • Conducts analysis of provided services, and research to identify and develop interventions, best practices, and services at the district level.
  • Responsible for the distribution of cases, coordinating court appearances, and management information in order to monitor workload.
  • Consults with probation officers and utilizes risk assessment instruments and case staffing to match juveniles with appropriate alternatives to detention based on needs and behaviors.
  • Coordinates with the Juvenile Justice Treatment Specialist/designee to identify, obtain, and resolve issues relative to juvenile services to enhance the use of detention alternatives.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation which supports compliance with federal, state, and local laws; collects and monitors data outcomes; prepares reports, as necessary, and oversees program evaluation.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
  • The above classification responsibilities represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.

Requirements /

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Qualifications :
    • Education:

      Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related fields
    • Experience:

      3 years of related experience in probation system
  • All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience working with youth or families—through tutoring, coaching, mentoring, volunteering, or similar roles—is preferred. Experience with Probation, DHHS, NDCS, or related systems, as well as skills in interviewing, investigation, or case management, are also desirable.
  • Knowledge Requirements
    • Supervisory principles;
    • Applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations, policies, programs and services;
    • Case management practices and principles and community resources;
    • Best practices regarding risk assessment and intake options;
    • Knowledge of issues concerning juvenile justice, and access to services for juveniles;
    • Knowledge of Justice System;
    • Applicable practices and regulations for legal proceedings;
    • Computers and applicable software applications.
  • Skill Requirements
    • Managing and evaluating employees;
    • Prioritizing and assigning work;
    • Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards;
