Cherry County Hospital & Clinic in Valentine, NE is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a Clinical Pharmacist
, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical services across all hospital services and departments, ensuring optimal patient care and safety. Working closely with the Pharmacy Director, you will oversee daily pharmacy operations, uphold the highest standards of practice, and ensure compliance with Nebraska DHHS Pharmacy Statutes.
- Managing day-to-day pharmacy activities, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to regulations
- Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal pharmaceutical care
- Providing medication counseling, drug therapy management, and patient education
- Ensuring proper medication dispensing, monitoring, and safety procedures
- Assisting with formulary management and contributing to cost-effective medication utilization
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date pharmacy records in accordance with regulatory requirements

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Dispensing medications as prescribed by a suitably licensed professional. All dispensing functions are the responsibility of the pharmacist. If done by a technician or intern, the work must be checked and verified by a pharmacist
- Compounding and preparing ordered pharmaceutical preparations, including intravenous additive solutions, and chemotherapy
- Cleans and disinfects sterile product (IV) preparation rooms
- Supervising all clinical functions of pharmacy interns and technicians, as required by regulation
- Preparing TPN solutions. Aiding in the monitoring of total parental nutrition (TPN) patients as required.
- Monitoring patients under the Antimicrobial Stewardship program
- Monitoring patient medications with respect to dosing, for renal or hepatic adjustments
- Fielding medication inquiries from staff members including nursing and providers
- Consulting with physician and nursing staff concerning availability, form, side effects, incompatibilities, therapeutic substitution, and hazards of currently available drugs
- Contacting and conferring with physicians if there are any questions, or irregularities regarding medication orders
- Completing medication reconciliation with patients, with counseling as necessary; and maintaining patient profiles in the chart as appropriate
- Maintaining inventory and records of narcotics. Investigating, and documenting on any discrepancies of controlled medications (C2, C3-5), and reporting to the Pharmacy Director
- Watching for any signs of potential medication diversion, and reporting to the Pharmacy Director
