Position Overview

Trane Technologies is hiring a Production Planner in Hastings, NE. In this role you will establish, manage, and maintain the production schedule for a selected group of products. You will act as the single point of contact of the plant for all customer accounts, managing the entire order life cycle to ensure orders are processed on time and collaborating with other functional teams to meet customers’ expectations and requirements.

The position reports to the Master Scheduler.

Responsibilities
  • Establish production manufacturing priorities for the customer demands consistent with master scheduling requirements, inventory objectives, and service level goals.
  • Perform order entry for configure‑to‑order business model and complete order closure and invoicing activity when orders are shipped.
  • Reconcile all order discrepancies and order changes.
  • Communicate with customers, sales offices, engineering, purchasing, operations and marketing to ensure customer priorities are met and leverage common processes, tools, and information systems.
  • Assist in the development of weekly and monthly metrics, which include on‑time shipment %, productivity, shipment goals, past‑due backlog, and assembly production.
  • Request support for complex escalations/issues from the next appropriate level of customer support and provide documentation throughout the process.
  • Establish and communicate revised production schedules based on weekly PSI meetings.
  • Manage rejected and rework product/order planning, rescheduling and invoicing.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities and monitor schedule performance against plan.
  • Participate in customer service‑related projects such as Strategy A3 and Projects & MDI (daily meetings).
  • Assist in and support the development of process improvements and continuous learning.
  • Attend and host daily stand‑up meetings in production environments.
  • Host meetings for production coordination.
  • Other duties as assigned by the master scheduler.
Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or 4+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1‑2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or customer service.
  • Experience with production scheduling.
  • Oracle/ERP experience preferred.
  • APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) required; advanced Excel skills preferred.

  • Ability to make decisions with limited time and information and determine decision‑making criteria based on priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
  • Very detail‑oriented, paying close attention to all small particulars when working on tasks or projects.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, personal skills and independent problem resolution.
  • Data access/retrieval skills with experience in data analysis, data manipulation using MS Excel and/or other tools as provided, and working knowledge of an ERP system.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to identify problems, create solutions, and make recommendations.
