Description of WorkOperates and maintains equipment necessary for unloading coal from railcars, operating plant conveyor systems, managing and distributing coal on coal stockpile, and filling the coal silos. Loads and distributes various ash byproducts to the appropriate ash containment areas.
QualificationsAny combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of high school plus one year of experience operating heavy equipment similar to that required for fuel handling. Some experience with preventive maintenance and lubrication schedules is preferred.
Special Requirements- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- May be required to obtain commercial driver's license.
- Operate all equipment necessary for unloading coal trains, reclaiming coal to the stockpile, and filling all coal silos on site.
- Manages coal stockpile as directed using the coal dozers.
- Conducts daily inspections on all equipment and refers defects or needed repairs of equipment to the Lead Fuel Handler.
- Performs preventive and department maintenance on coal handling equipment and other assigned equipment.
- Load and distribute various ash byproducts to the appropriate ash containment areas, and maintain them per Federal and State requirements.
- Observes surrounding conditions such as personnel, equipment, property, etc. to assure safety conditions.
- Cleans equipment, including keeping coal handling equipment clear of coal dust accumulation.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public.
- Works with contractors to load contracted ashes of all types.

HoursFull-time, 10 hour rotating shift work.
May be called upon at other times for maintenance or repair work of an emergency nature or as otherwise required.
