Avionics Line Maintenance Technician
, with moderate supervision, performs inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repair, removal and replacement of aircraft instrument and avionics components and systems using various hand tools and test equipment to meet manufacturer’s specifications, FARs, industry standards and Duncan approved procedures in a safe and organized work area.
Job Duties
- Inspect, perform basic troubleshooting, repairs, test, remove and replace avionics and instrument wiring and systems installed in various airframes using hand tools, test equipment and technical documents. Order necessary parts to complete the job.
- Perform basic checkout of aircraft systems that interface with avionics systems.
- Enter a description of work completed on the work order and properly document removal and installation of aircraft parts and components according to approved data and Duncan procedures.
- Assist bench technicians in resolving discrepancies in avionics and instrument components and systems removed from aircraft.
- Accompany flight crews to perform in-flight troubleshooting and adjustments and perform preflight evaluations of avionics and instrument systems.
- Maintain and clean line maintenance test equipment and work area as required. Operate ground support equipment as necessary.
- Attend factory and company technical classes and participate in OJT to increase technical skills and proficiency. Maintain and update training log.
- Work all alternate shifts of the department as needed and perform road trips within the United States and abroad as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Licenses/Certificates:
Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. - Attendance:
Regularly scheduled attendance required. - Physical:
Routinely lift up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 75 lbs.; read small print; identify colors; perform repetitive motion; tolerate working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerate exposure to products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerate standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting. - Environmental:
Tolerate working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- One year related avionics or electronics experience or certification in avionics, electronics technology, airframe maintenance or related field required.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Two to three years related avionics, electronics, airframe maintenance or related experience required.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent required.
- Minimum five years related avionics, electronics, airframe maintenance or related experience required.
