Diesel Mechanic – 1st Shift up to $37.27/hr, 2nd Shift up to $39.77/hr

Hours:
All shifts available – 4 day work week.
Pay: 1st Shift up to $37.27/hr and 2nd Shift up to $39.77/hr with CDL and ASE incentives. Training available for incentives.

Job Summary:
Mechanics are responsible for safely and efficiently maintaining Dohrn fleet vehicles.
- Operate and inspect mechanical equipment to diagnose defects
- Analyze malfunctions and perform general overhaul, tune‑up or preventive maintenance of equipment
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment
- Plan work procedure using charges, technical manuals and experience
- Repair, replace and adjust necessary units and parts
- Enter labor lines and parts into repair order computer system
- May travel to other company shop locations when staff is needed
- React to changes productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
- Minimum age of 18
- High School completion or equivalent
- Valid Driver License
- Command of English language to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
- Must pass a non‑DOT physical examination and functional screen (CDL‑qualified mechanics will be subject to a DOT physical examination)
- Must consent to a pre‑employment drug screen; a negative result is required
- Experience as a journey‑level diesel mechanic is preferred
- CDL, ASE, and state and/or federal inspection certifications are preferred
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive and mechanical equipment is required
- Working knowledge of the operating principles of gas and diesel engines and repair of heavy trucks
- Previous experience maintaining detailed and routine record keeping
- Manual dexterity required
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety precautions
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to communicate to both internal and external customers
- Ability to work in a team as well as individually
- Excellent attendance
Physical Requirements
- Overtime may be necessary during peak periods; must be able to work a varied schedule or travel based on need
- Heavy work exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, and 100+ lbs. on an occasional basis
- Work occurs both inside and outside; outside work may be in extreme weather conditions
- Standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and reaching for sustained periods of time
- Noise level may require shouting to be heard above ambient noise
- Hazards include proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and exposure to chemicals
- Exposure to atmospheric conditions that affect the respiratory system such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists and gases
- Requires close visual acuity to operate machines, motor vehicles, perform visual inspections involving small defects and parts, and use measurement devices
