Job Description & How to Apply Below
KMM Group manufactures high-precision components and assemblies that support life-saving medical devices, aerospace systems, defense programs, space exploration, and advanced technology.
We are looking for an Assembly Technician who enjoys hands-on, detailed work and takes pride in building parts where quality matters. This role is ideal for someone with experience in precision assembly, medical device assembly, aerospace assembly, mechanical assembly, cleanroom work, inspection documentation, and controlled manufacturing environments.
Assembly is not just putting parts together. We're looking for someone who enjoys reading the print, following the process, protecting the part, checking the details, and knowing that your work may support something flying, healing, launching, or saving a life.
What You'll Do
- Assemble intricate medical device components, aerospace sub-assemblies, and precision manufactured parts according to blueprints, work instructions, SOPs, job travelers, and customer specifications.
- Follow detailed assembly procedures to meet form, fit, function, tolerance, cleanliness, and quality requirements.
- Use hand tools, torque wrenches, microscopes, custom fixtures, press-fit equipment, adhesive dispensers, and precision measuring tools.
- Perform visual inspection, in-process inspection, and basic functional testing to identify defects before final quality review.
- Document production activity, inspection results, time, quantity, and job status in travelers, production records, and ERP/scheduling systems.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to troubleshoot assembly issues and improve processes.
- Support new assembly procedure development, process validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow Lean Manufacturing, 5S, contamination control, and cleanroom or controlled-environment practices when required.
- Help maintain compliance with internal quality requirements, customer specifications, ISO 13485:2016, AS9100, and ITAR-related manufacturing expectations.
• What You Bring
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, work instructions, schematics, and inspection requirements.
- Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and comfort working with small or delicate components.
- Experience using hand tools, torque tools, microscopes, fixtures, adhesive dispensing equipment, and precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams.
- A quality-first mindset and the patience to do precise work the right way.
- 3-5 years of experience in precision assembly
- Medical device assembly, aerospace assembly, mechanical assembly, electromechanical assembly, or similar detailed manufacturing
- Familiarity with ISO 13485, AS9100, cleanroom procedures, contamination control, GD&T, inspection documentation, or ERP systems
- Lean manufacturing or 5S experience
- Experience supporting precision manufacturing, CNC machining, grinding, EDM, inspection, or production operations
To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual must be able to:
- Frequently sit and/or stand for extended periods during a shift.
- Regularly use hands and fingers for fine manipulation, precision assembly, and operation of hand tools and assembly equipment.
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials, components, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Maintain visual acuity sufficient to inspect small features, identify defects, read engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and quality documentation. This may include working with microscopes, magnification devices, or other visual inspection equipment.
- Ability to distinguish fine detail, color variations, and surface imperfections.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, cleanroom garments, hair coverings, and other protective equipment as required.
- Work in controlled environments, including Class 8 clean rooms, while complying with contamination…
