  • Run precision EDM work on Makino CNC EDM machines

  • Work with graphite and copper electrodes for complex profiles, cavities, features, and tight-tolerance details

  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, models, GD&T, tolerances, and customer specifications

  • Perform EDM burning, electrode setup, alignment, offset adjustments, and process troubleshooting

  • Support work involving C-axis EDM, helical EDM, indexing, carbide circuit, and fine-finish EDM applications

  • Inspect your own work using precision measuring tools and quality documentation

  • Work closely with machining, grinding, quality, engineering, and production teams

  • Maintain clean, organized, accurate, and repeatable setups

  • Support continuous improvement, process stability, and first-time-right manufacturing

Equipment & Technology You May Use:

KMM's EDM and manufacturing capabilities include:

  • Makino EDAF-3 CNC EDM with C Axis

  • Makino EDNC-32 CNC EDM

  • Fine Finish Carbide circuit EDM capability

  • Helical EDMing and indexing capability

  • 8-station and 16-position tool changer EDM systems

  • Graphite and copper electrode-based EDM processes

  • CMMs, optical comparators, micrometers, gages, and precision inspection equipment

Our facility also includes Wire EDM, 3/4/5-axis CNC machining, mill-turn, Swiss machining, grinding, finishing, passivation, laser marking, and advanced inspection capabilities.

What We're Looking For

This role is a strong fit for someone who is dependable, curious, and hands-on.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Ability to work with graphite and/or copper electrodes

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to inspect your own work and maintain quality standards

  • Comfort working in a high-mix, precision manufacturing environment

Bonus Points if you have experience with:
  • Makino EDAF or Makino EDNC experience

  • Experience with helical EDM, C-axis EDM, indexing, carbide circuit, or fine-finish EDM

  • Electrode manufacturing experience

  • Graphite electrode experience

  • Copper electrode experience

  • Mastercam experience

  • Esprit CAD/CAM experience

  • Solid Works or model-based manufacturing experience

  • Toolmaking, mold making, or tool & die background

  • Medical device manufacturing experience

  • Aerospace, defense, or space manufacturing experience

  • Experience with first article inspection, in-process inspection, or close-tolerance quality documentation

Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.

  • Frequently use hands and fingers to operate machinery, tools, controls, gauges, and measuring instruments.

  • Distinguish colors, displays, indicators, and measurement markings when performing programming, setup verification, and inspection-related tasks.

  • Communicate effectively with machinists, engineers, quality personnel, and production teams in a manufacturing environment.

  • Visually inspect parts, tooling, machine displays, blueprints, and measurement devices, including the ability to distinguish fine details and small dimensional variations.

  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials, tooling, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, with or without assistance.

  • Safely operate material handling equipment and lifting devices when required.
