School Bus Monitor Sub

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise students while boarding, riding, and exiting the bus to ensure safety and order.
• Assist the bus driver in managing student behavior and enforcing school district policies.
• Support students with disabilities, including helping with mobility devices and ensuring secure seating.
• Maintain seating charts and monitor assigned seating arrangements.
• Respond to emergencies calmly and effectively, including administering basic first aid if trained.
• Communicate with school staff and parents regarding student behavior or incidents on the bus.

• High school diploma or equivalent (some districts may not require this).
• Experience working with children is preferred, especially in educational or caregiving settings.
• Ability to pass background checks and meet district safety standards.
• Physical ability to assist students with mobility challenges and manage emergency situations.

• Patience and empathy, especially when working with young children or those with special needs.
• Strong communication skills to interact with students, parents, and school staff.
• Situational awareness to identify and address potential safety issues.
• Conflict resolution and behavior management techniques.
• Dependability and punctuality, given the importance of consistent transportation schedules.
