Job OverviewNova Space Solutions (NSS) is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Systems Engineer to provide reliable and responsive electrical engineering support for site assets and infrastructure at Naval Station Mayport. This position is responsible for improving system reliability, supporting maintenance operations, developing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, troubleshooting electrical systems, and providing engineering support for high-voltage power distribution, electrical infrastructure, and facility systems.
ResponsibilitiesEssential
Job Duties:
- Establish and implement reliability engineering principles and best practices in accordance with the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP) or equivalent standards.
- Utilize Maximo to manage maintenance activities and support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Develop preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, overhaul, and repair procedures for electrical systems and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standards and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Test, troubleshoot, perform root cause failure analysis, develop corrective action plans, and implement solutions to eliminate repeat equipment failures.
- Manage upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting of AC and DC variable speed drives, motors, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motor controls, motor control centers, and machine interface software.
- Develop, maintain, and update plant electrical drawings and system documentation.
- Test, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment, including:
- 480V substations
- Transformers
- Switchgear
- Vacuum breakers
- Protective relays
- Power controls and distribution equipment
- Current transformers
- Potential transformers
- Battery systems
- Power line carrier systems
- Perform relay calibration and maintenance and repair substation relays and control schemes.
- Monitor plant high-voltage electrical operations, coordinate system lineups, and interface with plant operations.
- Develop electrical switching orders and establish electrical safe work zones.
- Interpret short circuit, arc flash, load flow, and relay coordination studies and determine appropriate PPE requirements.
- Provide 24/7 engineering support for electrical system failures and coordinate restoration efforts using internal and contract resources.
- Investigate and provide detailed analysis of high-voltage electrical incidents.
- Lead the design, installation, rebuilding, and commissioning of electrical equipment, including high-current rectifier systems, transformers, high-voltage switch gear, transmission lines, and metering systems (13.8kV and 480V).
