Description:
The Registered Nurse performs under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Coordinator.
The nurse implements the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner to include assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Collaboration with the Patient Care Coordinator, physicians, and ancillary staff is essential.
Documentation in the Patient Care Record is required.
The Registered Nurse is accountable to the Nurse Manager for patient care.
Additional duties may be assigned by the Patient Care Coordinator and/or Patient Care Manager.
Performance expectations include the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
The nurse assesses and intervenes appropriately when a patient’s condition worsens and requires immediate attention.
Knowledge of growth and development principles is required.
The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and to interpret the information needed to identify each patient's requirements is essential.
All technical skills required for the specific population must be performed competently.
These include administering medications, starting intravenous access, maintaining intravenous lines and Foley catheters, and performing venipuncture.
Additional tasks include the administration of blood products, restraint application and monitoring, and sterile dressing changes.
The nurse must demonstrate technical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment used in patient care.
This includes traction devices, wound vacuum systems, and telemetry monitoring devices.
Effective communication of pertinent patient information to the health care team is crucial.
Documentation must be thorough, concise, and timely.
The nurse is responsible for maintaining clinical skills and staying current in competencies and certifications.
Implementation of a comprehensive plan of care to provide individualized care is vital.
Prompt intervention when clinical changes occur is expected.
Adherence to established organizational values, including safety and compliance standards, is essential.
The nurse promotes a culture of caring through compassionate care, teamwork, and courtesy in all interactions.
Demonstrating financial responsibility by using supplies efficiently is also important.
Every other weekend commitment is required.
This position is essential for avoiding bed shutdowns and meeting patient care needs.
