Registered Nurse
The Registered Nurse performs under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Coordinator. The Nurse is responsible for achieving quality patient care. The Registered Nurse implements the nursing process systematically. This includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Collaboration occurs with the Patient Care Coordinator, physicians, and ancillary staff. Documentation is maintained in the Patient Care Record. The Registered Nurse is accountable to the Nurse Manager.
Other duties may be assigned by the Patient Care Coordinator or Nurse Manager. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care. Assesses and intervenes when a patient's condition worsens. Demonstrates understanding of growth and development principles. Possesses the ability to assess data reflecting the patient's status. Effectively interprets information needed to identify patient requirements. Responsible for performing all technical skills required for the patient population.
This includes administering medications, starting intravenous access, and managing IV lines. Other responsibilities include venipuncture, administration of blood products, and restraint monitoring. The Nurse performs sterile dressing changes and both complex and routine treatments. Demonstrates technical aptitude for working with medical equipment. Safely positions and assists patients using specialized devices. Documentation must be thorough, concise, and timely. Conducts bedside shift reports and communicates pertinent patient information.
Maintains clinical skills and stays current with competencies and certifications. Embraces and practices a caring philosophy in all interactions. Implements systematic and comprehensive plans of care for patients. Communicates effectively and in a timely manner. Adheres to and promotes established values within the organization. Demonstrates financial responsibility by using supplies efficiently. Ensures timely patient discharges and minimizes incremental overtime. The role requires working every other weekend.
