This is a time limited position. The Mississippi State Department of Health is seeking a Nurse III to serve as a County Coordinating Nurse. Based in Simpson County, this position directs and coordinates public health nursing services for multiple county health department clinics or for an assigned large county health department clinic.

• Planning, directing, and supervising the delivery of nursing services within assigned county health department clinics.
• Supervising county staff nurses, medical aides, and other assigned personnel.
• Performing the duties of a county staff nurse or float nurse when operational needs require additional clinical coverage.
• Coordinating staff assignments and clinic activities to support efficient and consistent service delivery.
• Monitoring clinic operations, staff performance, and compliance with established nursing procedures and public health program requirements.
• Identifying operational or performance concerns and initiating appropriate corrective action.
• Providing clinical and administrative guidance to assigned nursing and support staff.
• Supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered public health services.
• Preparing reports, records, and other required documentation for submission to the appropriate administrative supervisor.
• Coordinating with clinic personnel, regional leadership, healthcare providers, and other program partners as needed.

• Demonstrate knowledge of nursing standards, patient safety, infection prevention, confidentiality, and applicable public health procedures.
• Are able to provide staff-nurse or float-nurse coverage when required by clinic operations.
• Are able to travel among assigned county health department clinics, meetings, training sessions, and other work locations as required.

The Mississippi State Personnel Board's minimum qualification for the Nurse III classification typically requires current state licensure as a Registered Nurse and two or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse.

In addition to meeting the MSPB minimum qualification, preference may be given to applicants who:

• Hold an active, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Mississippi.
• Have experience providing nursing services in a public health, community health, ambulatory care, clinical, or comparable healthcare setting.
