Position:
Registered Nurse/LPN
The Registered Nurse/LPN is responsible for promoting and restoring patients’ health by developing day‑to‑day management and long‑term planning of patient care, collaborating with providers and multidisciplinary professional staff, providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families. The nurse demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with staff, patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to cultural and religious beliefs.
Job Responsibilities- Appropriately complete an initial interview and provide initial counseling and education.
- Able to risk‑screen a maternity patient as no risk, at risk, or high risk and continue the screening throughout the prenatal period.
- Familiar with the Perinatal High Risk Management Program and make appropriate referrals as needed.
- Determine an estimated due date and gestational age using the gestational wheel.
- Conduct interviews with maternity patients at each visit, provide counseling and education, arrange needed lab work, and schedule ultrasounds as indicated.
- Assess fetal heart tones with a Doppler and document findings on Hollister.
- Assess fundal height with documentation on Hollister.
- Set up maternity patients on fetal monitoring machines and evaluate baseline fetal heart rate, contraction timing, and any ominous signs.
- Obtain vital signs on all patients and apply knowledge of normal ranges.
- Administer medications per nursing protocol and provide appropriate counseling and education.
- Communicate with multidisciplinary team members to resolve patient problems and needs.
- Set up exam rooms for procedures and provide assistance when needed.
- Operate all equipment following manufacturer instructions.
- Maintain a safe, clean working environment in accordance with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Keep exam rooms and nursing station clean, stocked, and orderly.
- Perform lab duties, infection control procedures, and complete all lab forms accurately.
- Conduct a GYN interview, provide counseling and education, and risk‑screen all patients.
- Use appropriate telephone communication skills.
- Know emergency procedures, including CPR, assisting with delivery, and ensuring patient safety during a fire.
- Maintain up‑to‑date logbooks.
- Use computers to check appointments, enter pertinent information, and schedule appointments.
- Adhere to OSHA protocols and be familiar with the Material Safety Management Book.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Create a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, staff meetings, and reviewing professional publications.
- Build a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by communicating effectively, responding to requests, building rapport, and participating in team problem‑solving.
- Document in the EMR and access information as needed.
- Maintain prompt attendance and verify timecard at the end of each pay period.
- Perform related work as assigned.
- Be flexible and willing to float to other clinic locations when needed to support operational needs and maintain quality patient care.
- Complete required IT/Security trainings prior to the deadline.
- Registered Nurse or LPN with a current license in the State of Mississippi.
- Minimum two years of clinical work experience.
- RN licensure and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Must have the dexterity and eye‑hand coordination for simple grasping and speed work, and the ability to listen and visualize.
- Must frequently sit, squat, reach, use right and left forearm rotation, walk, and climb stairs.
- Must occasionally kneel, twist, grasp firmly, lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 20 lbs.
