Hauppauge, Long Island, NY – On-Site Industry: Manufacturing & DistributionA growing and established manufacturing and distribution company in Hauppauge is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead daily accounting operations and oversee the accounting team. This role requires 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing staff. The ideal candidate will remain hands-on with the accounting while providing leadership across the department.

Core Responsibilities Lead and develop accounting staff while remaining hands-on with day-to-day accounting operations

Oversee AP, AR, general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries

Manage month-end and year-end close processes

Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting, and variance analysis

Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAPSupport cost accounting and inventory-related accounting

Coordinate audit preparation and work with external auditors

Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and senior leadership

Support budgeting and forecasting

Identify and implement accounting process and system improvements

Ideal Candidate5+ years of progressive accounting experience

Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing accounting staff

Hands-on Accounting Manager or strong Senior Accountant/Accounting Supervisor ready for the next step Strong month-end close, GL, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting experience

Manufacturing and/or distribution experience strongly preferred

Cost accounting and inventory accounting experience preferred

Strong knowledge of GAAPAdvanced Excel and ERP system experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required CPA or CMA is a plus, not required
