Jr Electrical Engineer
The Jr Electrical Engineer will focus primarily on hands-on testing and troubleshooting of commercial and aerospace electronic products in a lab environment, while also contributing to schematic capture and design activities. This role supports senior electrical engineers by taking ownership of detailed test, debug, and documentation tasks, and offers the opportunity to work with modern design tools and measurement equipment in a collaborative, small-team setting.
Responsibilities- Perform extensive hands-on testing and troubleshooting of commercial and aerospace electronic products in a lab environment, accounting for approximately 75% of the role.
- Diagnose issues in electronic assemblies and circuits, identify root causes, and propose effective corrective actions.
- Conduct schematic capture and basic design work, preferably using Cadence tools, for approximately 25% of the role.
- Support senior electrical engineers by taking on testing, troubleshooting, and related technical tasks to help move projects forward efficiently.
- Use oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and other electronic test equipment to validate performance and verify specifications.
- Interpret and work from schematics, PCB layouts, and design documentation to perform accurate testing and analysis.
- Collaborate with team members to review test results, document findings, and contribute to design improvements.
- Work with various client projects, adapting to different product requirements and technologies as needed.
- Maintain organized lab practices, including proper documentation of test procedures, results, and any issues encountered.
- Participate in team discussions and project meetings, providing clear technical input and status updates on assigned work.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- 2 to 5 years of practical work experience in electrical engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with heavy troubleshooting of electronics and electronic circuits.
- Ability to read, understand, and work from electrical schematics and PCB documentation.
- Experience with schematic capture using electronic design software, preferably Cadence tools such as Cadence Allegro.
- Proficiency using oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and related electronic test and measurement equipment.
- Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles, including voltage, current, and circuit behavior.
- Ability to work effectively in a small team environment and support senior engineers on technical tasks.
Skills & Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (MS) is preferred but not required.
- Experience working on both commercial and aerospace electronic products is a plus.
- Familiarity with PCB design and layout concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail in testing and documentation.
- Effective communication skills for sharing test results, issues, and recommendations with the engineering team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing project priorities.
- Comfort working directly with various clients and adjusting to different project environments.
The Jr Electrical Engineer will work in a small, collaborative team environment based out of a Hauppauge location, supporting various client projects on Long Island. The role is primarily lab-based, using modern test equipment such as oscilloscopes and voltmeters, along with electronic design software like Cadence for schematic capture. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
