Dime Community Bank (Dime) is currently hiring for an Assistant General Counsel & Assistant Corporate Secretary (one role) at its Headquarters in Hauppauge, Long Island or one of its Corporate Offices in Manhattan (Midtown), New York. The Assistant General Counsel & Assistant Corporate Secretary provides comprehensive counsel and support to the bank across a range of legal, regulatory, and risk‑related matters in various areas of expertise.
The role primarily concentrates on assisting in the assessment and practical management of legal risks and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while enabling business growth.
Salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $145,000 to $165,000 annually. The exact compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, education, training, licensure and certifications, and location.

Responsibilities- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements such as NDAs, DACAs, vendor agreements, account terms and conditions, product terms, etc.
- Assist the legal processing team in its review of and response to subpoenas, court orders, trust agreements, POAs, etc.
- Assist banking and lending teams with day‑to‑day questions that arise.
- Assist with corporate governance matters, including but not limited to compiling board materials, drafting resolutions, minutes, filings, etc.
- Work with the compliance team in monitoring changes in banking regulations and their impact on the Bank. Assist with responses to regulatory examinations.
- Provide legal support at a cross‑functional level in strategic and corporate initiatives, new products, etc.
- Handle disputes/complaints and support litigation management, document preservation, and discovery efforts.
- Perform legal research as needed.
- Other responsibilities as assigned from time to time.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience preferably within a financial institution or law firm specializing in banking/finance.
- J.D. required from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with the New York State Bar. Membership in the New Jersey State bar a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Willingness to collaborate, share knowledge, respond quickly to urgent matters, and execute proactively.
- Ability to effectively multitask, be highly organized, and work well under pressure.
- Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
