Overnight Diesel Mechanic

Overview

Interstate Waste Services provides solid waste and recycling services across Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, New York City, and a landfill located in Ohio.

Overnight Wednesday to Sunday 6pm to 5am.

Our Diesel Mechanics perform inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines. They perform preventive maintenance inspection (PMI); troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild major components on vehicles and equipment. They ensure accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.

• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Assists in the repair and adjustment of equipment.
• Washes vehicles and equipment.
• Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
• Assists with service calls for breakdowns.
• Perform other maintenance related work as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.

• 2+ years’ experience working as a heavy-duty Diesel Mechanic
• Hydraulics experience is highly preferred
• Engine and transmission maintenance and repairs
• Experience with diagnostic software such as Premium Tech Tool (Mack), Allison transmission, Cummins, Peterbilt, and Paccar.
• Chassis component repairs and maintenance including air brakes system, suspension, drivetrain and steering components.
• Maintain and repair exhaust systems equipped with DPF systems.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.
• Assists with service calls for breakdowns
• Must be able to provide own tools.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range Minimum: USD $24.41/Hr. Salary Range Maximum: USD $50.00/Hr.
