Position Overview
The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
BackgroundThis contract is part-time and establishes the duties of the Liturgical Pianist at Memorial Chapel, MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina. The length of this contract will be one base year plus four (4) option years.
ScopeResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Have a degree in piano/organ performance from an accredited institution and/or at least three years’ experience as a church organist-pianist.
- Play other instruments such as the violin, guitar or other appropriate church instruments.
- Be able to read music from the Armed Forces Hymnal and demonstrate competence through a resume and an audition and oral interview with the Command Chaplain.
- Obtain a background check from the local police department at the pianist’s own expense.
- Secure a pianist badge within five (5) working days of contract award from Pass and , regardless of any other military , which the pianist currently owns. The pianist must display the badge at all times while working in the vicinity of his/her duties.
- Attend an orientation brief given by the Memorial Chapel staff.
- Provide piano support every Sunday at the Protestant 0900 Liturgical Traditional Service.
- Consult with the Protestant chaplain regarding the selection and performance of Protestant service music.
- When directed by the Command Chaplain, provide piano support for memorial services, associated rehearsals and other special services and programs that are part of the Command Religious Program.
- When unavailable for a regularly scheduled worship service, provide a qualified substitute. The pianist will advise the chapel contracting officer of their absence at least one week in advance. If no replacement is provided, the pianist will forfeit pay for that day.
- Appraise the Command Chaplain of malfunctioning musical instruments and required service.
- Remain professionally current through personal study, training, conferences, workshops and seminars at your own expense.
Provide a minimum of five (5) hours of pianist services per week. The schedule will be as follows:
- Sunday – one (1) hour worship service.
- Monday – one (1) hour planning bulletin selections.
- Wednesday – three (3) hours of rehearsal time.
- Provide services as needed for special services such as memorials and weddings.
September 14th 2020 – September 13th 2021 plus four option years.
Place of PerformanceMCAS Station Chapel.
